Provenance: Private ownership; framing label suggests UK origin (Bognor Regis).

Description:
This original oil on board, signed and dated 1944, presents a striking impasto floral arrangement in a richly textured style. The bouquet bursts with vibrant colour-pinks, purples, blues, and whites-set against a pale background that enhances the vibrancy of the blossoms. The use of heavy impasto brushwork gives the flowers a three-dimensional presence, making the work particularly decorative and tactile.

Though the signature is indistinct, it appears to read “Edward Richards” or similar. The piece remains a beautiful example of mid-century British floral painting, ideal for collectors of vintage still life art or as a bold decorative feature in traditional or country interiors.
