Description:

This vintage reproduction of John Speed’s 1610 map of Sussex depicts the county divided into rapes, with an inset town plan of Chichester. Originally published in The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine, Speed’s maps remain among the most famous and decorative of early English cartography. This edition has been enhanced with hand-applied watercolour to highlight topographical details, coats of arms, and vignettes, making it a striking display piece. The map is preserved under glass in a wooden frame with gilt trim and is in good overall condition, ideal for collectors of historic maps or those with a connection to Sussex.
